A friend of mine said the best day to start new things is Monday. Since I’ve been procrastinating in creating this blog for several months now I figured Saturday works just as well. I was mostly concerned about the technical side of things (you see these amazing blogs with lots of integration and intricate designs), but I decided there’s nothing wrong with starting small and simple.
I’m super excited to share this first project with you! I love birthdays so when a colleague at work asked me to make a banner for her daughter’s 2nd birthday I was psyched. This was back at the beginning of summer so I wasn’t kidding about the epic procrastination bit. I’ve wanted to share it ever since because it’s so fun and cute. Granted, that is one cute kid, I mean my work was half done when her mom gave me these adorable pics to incorporate. The concept was one picture from each 6 month milestone (so we have one from when she was 6 months old, then 1 year, then 1 1/2 and finally the big 2).
My colleague’s husband was kind enough to take these beautiful pictures showcasing it:
All the products I used come from Stampin’ Up (most of my crafting supplies are from SU just so you know). I used a couple of birthday stamp sets, embossing folders for the polka dot and stars backgrounds, some DSP (Designer Series Paper) and a few sequins and stars. But you can use any stamps / stickers / embellishments you have.
Each banner base is 4”x 6”. The large polaroid frame is 10 cm x 10 cm (I made this out of DSP) and the smaller one is 3”x 4” and it comes from the Project Life Let’s Get Away Accessory Pack. You can scale these dimensions up or down depending on your preference or the size of the photos you want to use.
I also added some pom-poms at each end. I might make a video later on to show you how to make these. It’s very easy and the result is super cute.
I hope you like it and give it a try yourself. You will be the coolest mom on the block I guarantee 🙂 !
